How should I comb my wig to prevent tangles?
The best time to comb is when combing through conditioner with wet hair.
For human hair wigs: use a wide tooth comb made specifically for wigs. Do not use ordinary combs or brushes to set or tangle wigs. If tangling is to be done, start at the end of the hair (head to tail) and also use real hair for this purpose - if you start from top to bottom, more tangles will be needed.
For synthetic wigs: Do not use a brush as this will damage the fibres of the wig. Use a wide tooth comb or your fingers.
WARNING!!! Make sure that you never comb the roots of your hair where they are tied to the roots. This can damage the hair and put irreparable stress on the stability of the hair. The roots must always remain separate! Rinse under fresh tap water as described earlier. Gently remove the tangles again. You don't want to break any hair, as it obviously won't regrow!
Use a collapsible wig stand or a vase/jar to dry your wig so that it retains its shape. Do not leave a wet wig to dry on a flat surface.
Do not blow dry synthetic wigs. After washing your wig, air dry it to keep the hair smooth and easy to handle. Blow drying synthetic hairs can leave hair frizzy, hard and stiff and can damage the synthetic fibres.
Our final piece of advice: ideally, always wear two wigs. When washing one, you can wear the other or have it ready. In addition, you will extend the life of each wig and they will hold up well.
